A Collaboration Protocol for Turkey’s First Dental Center

The collaboration protocol was signed between Sakarya University and East Marmara Development Agency (MARKA) to establish “Orthopedic and Dental Implant Design, Industrial Production and Testing Center” as part of “2012 Planned Project Support Financial Assistance Program”.

Deputy General Secretary of MARKA Tolga Şahin, Rector of SAU Prof. Dr. Muzaffer Elmas, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Fatih Üstel and Director of SAU Technopark Tunahan Kırktepeli attended the protocol signing ceremony which was held in MARKA Conference Hall.

Deputy General Secretary of MARKA Tolga Şahin stated that with that protocol the preparation studies of “Orthopedic and Dental Implant Design, Industrial Production and Test Center Project” was started and as a part of the project the first vacuum spray unit in Turkey will be constructed. Şahin added that 1, 2 million TL of total budget, which is 3, 2 million TL, will be spent by SAU and 2 million TL will be spent by MARKA.

Prof. Dr. Muzaffer Elmas, Rector of SAU, said in his speech “We are glad that the project of our university is approved by MARKA and it will be applied. To gain a successful project, our university will be in cooperation with MARKA, Technopark and other units. I would like to thank MARKA for their support and I wish you every success for the project.”

Giving technical information about the project, Prof. Dr. Fatih Üstel, Vice Rector of SAU, said that biomedical technologies in our country are dependent upon importation and continued “Health expenditure in our country reaches serious proportions like $ 35-40 billion. Orthopedic and implantable products in the health expenditure correspond to the rate of % 17.7. This project will enable the production of denture and implant which is dependent on importation, in Turkey. These products will be used more people with a lower cost.”

After the speeches, the agreement protocol for the project was signed by Rector of SAU Prof. Dr. Muzaffer Elmas, Deputy General Secretary of MARKA Tolga Şahin and Director of SAU Technopark Tunahan Kırktepeli.
