7+1 Education Model

Sakarya University (SAU) applies the education model, which was started in all vocational schools last year, for faculties

Sakarya University applies the education model including one year study in the business field for faculties. Students of Technology Faculty will have education in industry in 7^th and 8^th terms.

Education model in industry which was started by Sakarya University with the aim of training qualified staff continues to expand. As part of the education model, vocational school students completed their education by working full-time in an institution last year. Faculty of Technology will conduct the same procedure and send the students to the institutions for a term.

Prof. Dr. Muzaffer Elmas, Rector of Sakarya University, stated that the university made a major contribution to the students and the business world through the project. Rector Elmas said that the university developed applications which were model for Turkey in order to educate students in the sector and prepare them for the industry. He added that the students would have work experience before graduation by means of the education model.

Dean of Faculty of Technology Sarıbıyık said “Faculties are organized as seven terms in the school with theoretical information and a term in industry with practical information based on Bologna process for providing education to educate engineers who meet the expectations for information and practice in business world.”

Through education model started in Faculty of Technology which includes Mechatronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Metallurgical and Materials Engineering, the business world will educate the required staff in a short time, the education programs in the university will be updated in line with the requirements of business world.

7+1 Education Model will start in 2013-2014 Academic Year. The students will take courses in school during six terms and then they will take training course in 7^th or 8^th term according to “Workplace Training Regulation” during 16 weeks.
