Sakarya University (SAU) Graduation Ceremony was held at Sakarya Atatürk Stadium. Graduating students received their diplomas with a great excitement.
Sakarya Governor Mustafa Büyük, Sakarya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Zeki Toçoğlu, AK Party Sakarya Deputy Ali İhsan Yavuz, Rector of SAU Prof. Dr. Muzaffer Elmas, academicians and parents of students attended ceremony. President Abdullah Gül and Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan congratulated students and extended their best wishes by sending message.
The ceremony started with lighting a graduation torch by SAU students who are also national sportsmen. SAITEM, technology society gaining lots of success, marched through the stage and was followed by students behind.
We are proud of the young
Sakarya Governor Mustafa Büyük said “These young people always fill us with pride. They had education in a friendly atmosphere.” He expressed his thanks to the university and wished success for newly graduates.
SAU is a great family
Rector Prof. Dr. Muzaffer Elmas underlined that SAU is a great family and said that many famous names graduated from that university, like President Abdullah Gül.
Stating the developments on technological infrastructure and increasing student numbers of SAU, Elmas continued “In its 20th year, our university has become an outstanding institution with 60.000 students, 2.500 personnel, 200 different departments, distance education and certificate programs. Moreover, it is aimed that number of foreign students, which is about 600 from 40 different countries, will be increased.”
Elmas gave some suggestion to the graduates and encouraged them to bring their qualifications to the fore. He said “Expand your horizons and be different.”
SAU offers various opportunities
Neşe Can Tahran, the valedictorian of SAU’s Class of 2012, stated SAU offered various opportunities and experiences for her. “Being aware of your personal values, following the current changes, using the time effectively, conducting authentic researches, go through the future but not forgetting the traditional ethics are among the principal qualifications we have learnt here” Tarhan said.
Graduates were awarded
Neşe Can Tahran who has 3.99 GPA was awarded by Governor Mustafa Büyük. The plaque of Necmiye Demircioğlu was given by Sakarya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Zeki Toçoğlu and a plaque was presented to Gamze İnci by Sakarya Deputy Ali İhsan Yavuz.
Graduates tossed their caps into the air at the end of the and enjoyed with music performed by DJ Murat Uyar.
